Who we are and what we're about

We live in Cardigan, Wales and have recently started breeding budgies as pets.

We built our small aviary last year after deciding that 14 budgies were just a few too many to keep in the house. The move to breeding came naturally as it was something we had done in the past until we found out that our eldest son was allergic to birds.

We are very dedicated to our animals, and especially to our birds as they bring such colour, life and joy to us

It has been said that we spoil our budgies with love, toys and treats, but that's ok. So long as the birds are happy and healthy, then we are happy too.

It's such a lovely feeling knowing that every chick we have is parent reared yet hand-tamed to the point of silliness. All of our chicks are 100% used to being handled by both adults and children, so they have no 'human-fear'.

It started with a few pet-shop bought, untame adults:

We quickly found that the quality and life expectancy of the birds we were buying wasn't very good at all, so I took the best of the ones we had managed to buy and decided to start my own strain of budgies.  We have not registered with any breeders club, and probably never will unless we decide to go in for the exhibition type bird. Personally I prefer the pet type as they're much more active and agile ;)
